One thing that has to be added is that dating doesn't necessarily need to be a thing here.... Sure, of course, people are dating, we have dating apps, even hookup culture etc. But most people I know just met their partners through school, work, friends or at a party. That initial spark tends to happen naturally and organically in settings like those. An important aspect for a lot of Swedes (I think) is to feel a meaningful and emotional connection with another person. Dating, at least to me feels much more like an imported "American concept" that turns love into a commodity where there is a big focus on consuming goods and services and where it is implied that men should "show off" to swoon girls. I think most Swedes just like a more natural settings. The biggest cultural difference I can come to think of is that there isn't a large divide between genders. A friend of mine threw a big birthday get-together just a week ago, and we were basically just a big group of mixed adults ranging from 25-45 year olds, everyone was interacting with one another in a very mixed setting, gender, age or sexual orientation didn't really matter, and people mingled around quite organically. Something that objectively felt quite unique compared to what I have witnessed when traveling abroad (where people tend to group up in guy groups and girl groups)

What she is describing is common amont students who cant afford to pay for everyone's diner. So its more about eatint together, socializing and then share the bill instead of eating alone. Some friend groups may keep the habbit after graduating but for most people when you invite guests over it's not common that you make them pay. Same with the baggel per person, thats not common. I suggest she looks for better friends..

I've dated a Mexican woman for 2 years, what my biggest culture shock was, was that Mexicans work a lot, she works like, 6 days a week, 12 hours a day, here in the Netherlands it's like, 4 days, and 8 hours a day, for most people, anyway, it was the best time of my life, an experience that I will never forget, and also, I hope to one day, end up in Mexico, and just go party with her and a couple of her friends, because that's something the Dutch, and the Mexicans have in common, they LOVE to party, I also love Mexican food, spicy food in general is amazing, but Mexican food is my absolute favourite, music wise I also love Mexico, Mariachi has become one of my favourite music genres to listen to Karla, I am forever greatful that we crosses paths, you mean so so much to me, I will always love you and support you for who you are, and what you desire in life <3

I never had to pay to eat dinner with my friends or family. However, my neighbours and best friend's parents did not like having people over for dinner. They used to send me home before they had dinner, soon followed by my best friend popping down the road to join my family for a second round of dinner. My mum always invited anyone to join us for dinner, from neighbourhood kids to my dad's customers, who seemed to always drop in by dinner time, enquiring if their favourite chicken soup was on the menu that day. Wednesday was pancake day, which was very popular in the neighbourhood. Our dinner table used to be very crowded almost every day.

This is spot on. For me, and perhaps for most Western men, these personality traits common with German women come across as unfriendly, cold, and often rude. They will defend it by saying they are just honest and direct, but that doesn't fly with me. Basic courtesy and kindness, especially on a first date, go a long way. I am sure there are some German women who aren't like this, but the stereotype exists for a reason.

1 52 i think an even bigger peoblem with that one was that u didn't even let him speak a bit of smalltalk at the beginning is ok to find something deeper to talk about but u should let him actually finish saying something. I am also german and it's seen as very rude to just cut in when someone is trying to talk.
